Visas are necessary by all nationals apart from those of Malta and Arab countries. All Egyptian Consulates are authorized to grant entry Egypt visa Requirement.Passport Authorities at all ports of entry are also empowered to grant visas on the spot. Passports must be valid for at least three months subsequent to the date of the proposed visit to Egypt. If your voyage is on overland visas can be got from neighboring countries without much of a problem. You can request either for a single entry visa which entitles the holder to a reside for one month and is valid for presentation for up to three months, or for a multiple entry visa which is restricted for up to three visits. A visa cannot be obtained at the Israeli border.

There is usually a two week grace period after the expiry date of a visa. Visas can be extended for up to a the time of six months but you will usually be required to show you have enough money to maintain your stay and show bank receipts indicating you have enough sufficient money. Credit card receipts for purchases or cash advances are generally not accepted.

You can tour the Sinai area between the Israeli border crossing of Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh without a visa, but you will only be issued with the entry stamp permitting you to stay 14 days.

It is not a necessity for nationals entering Egypt to register with the police within one week of arrival – this was scrapped off in early 1997.

Egypt receives one of the hottest and sunniest climates in the world, even if on the whole it can be best identified as mild. While the mid summer months can turn out to be quite hot, the heat is less challenging than else-where because of low humidity. For the rest of the year the weather is perfect, and sunny. Rainy days are few and far between in Cairo, and almost unknown in Upper Egypt,its always better to know when to go to Egypt. Cairo can be cold from December to February, and very hot from June to September, even if the heat is frequently relieved by a northerly breeze with temperatures reducing during the night. For that reason, it would be necessary to pack both lightweight and warm clothing.

The North Coast and division of the Delta area is influenced by the Mediterranean climate zone and Geography, while a subtropical climate reigns greater part of Egypt. The temperature increases as you drive from North to South. The weather in the summer is hot and dry which means that the temperature increases to 45 degrees. Peak temperatures in Upper Egypt from May to October are regularly compensated for by tremendously low humidity. The winter is dry and mild which means that the temperature changes between 13 and 21 degrees Celsius. It seldomly rains except on the coast. The Mediterranean Sea area receives the most rainfall in Egypt.
